Junior Term 1 Week 3

 Term 4, Week 9

Welcome back to a New Year in the Junior School. The children are happy and beginning to settle into their classroom routines in the new 1/2 Area! After a lovely long summer break it takes time to adjust back to school time, and I'm sure most have been returning home every night feeling tired.
During the first few weeks they have been enjoying Discovery Time and playing lots of games to help them get to know each other. This is a most important part of the new year school year, as well as discussion and setting our classroom expectations for a happy, safe learning environment.

We are looking forward to speaking with parents at the Meet the Teacher evening on February 27, which will be a great chance for you to share important information about your child's needs, interests and skills to assist us in getting to know your child.  Use this link to book your time - visit www.schoolinterviews.com.au and use the code ppywv.

In READING this week, we are learning to visualise by listening to stories and creating pitcures in our head.

During
WRITING this week, we have continued writing recounts and are working on developing ideas for our narrative writing.

Our latest topic in
MATHS has been Place Value which we have explored through games and creating buildings with Base 10 materials.

* Please ensure that all students wear helmets if they are riding or scooting to school. If students are not wearing a helmet, they risk serious injury in the event of a crash.

* We always welcome parent/family helpers in the classroom. If you are interested, please ensure you provide a copy of your
Working With Children Check to the office. More information can be found at: http://www.workingwithchildren.vic.gov.au/

* Term 1 is a
SunSmart term - please ensure your child has a MPPS wide brim hat for recess and lunchtimes. Students without hats will be asked to play in the shaded areas.
